Finding Diamonds in the Rough

Many of these properties can be found through a licensed real estate agent. I always recommend that you find an agent that has experience with homes that need work. Find an agent that has done a few properties themselves. Another great agent would be one that specializes in bank owned properties or REO (Real Estate Owned). REO properties are properties that lenders have taken back from the previous homeowner and are now marketing for resale to you!! These properties often are underprices and need work.
You can also look for a HUD Home. A HUD home is a property that has been taken back from the previous homeowner by FHA. HUD listings can be found at www.hud.gov.
